'Orange' and 'Purple' come to mind;
To check out this phenomenon
I was challenged – Bring it On!
Poets love with words to dabble
Selecting those that fit – like Scrabble
Double-entendre or clever pun
Like a millefeuille cake, is fun.
Verbs, nouns and foreign sounds are game
And, on occasion, a strange name ...
Our 'naranj' has a Sanskrit source
Denoting this ripe fruit of course.
In bygone times the people said
This nuance was just 'yellow-red'
But when the early traders came
To Europe via camel train
Putting basketfuls on view
It morphed into a colour too...
Delicious yes, but I regret
I haven't found that rhyme – just yet!
