Virus Stops Play!

Athletes, both amateur and pro,
Need at this time to lie low
Careers abruptly put 'on hold'
Events called off - a hundredfold!

First, football: local and league games
No match betting - no Pools gains!
Grand Prix races follow suit
The Olympics, as we know, are moot.

Royal Ascot won't take place
Forget Aintree and steeplechase
For our Virus loves a milling throng
And sport en masse helps it along!

Thus manicured lawns stay green
In S.W.19
No July strawbs and cream on plates
As Wimbledon must close its gates.

To keep your muscles well in tone
All sport must now be done alone;
To stop Corona's lethal tracks
The word is: «Stay home and relax!»
