A Reflection on Good Friday 2020

With Churches forced to close their doors,
This world-wide lock-down gives us pause:
Good Friday's heartfelt sense of loss
And tragedy upon the Cross

Reminds us we are all alone
With only Jesus to atone
For all our sins which grow so great ...
A time perhaps to contemplate

Our raison d'ĂȘtre, our soul's wellbeing
No one escapes, God is all-seeing ...
From Eden's Garden long ago
With our Planet's finest gifts on show

Flattered by the serpent's tongue
We took a bite, a fatal one;
Though warned, we wanted more to know
This act of folly brought us low...

A Bible myth – or metaphor?
Philosophy - or something more?
A way to link with the Divine?
Perhaps the Virus is a sign ...
