Getting the Wind Up!

Wind cannot be seen – just heard
When springtime fury is released
In deepest night its wrath is stirred
Its pent-up rage disturbs the peace.

The crack of branches, whipped up gale
Scurries of detritus strewn
Present each household's sorry trail
The bin men cannot come too soon!

Uprooted trees – par for the course
Power lines are down again
Spellbound by Mother Nature's force
We're helpless in torrential rain.

Although much progress has been made
And computers like to think they're boss
Swirling winds make us afraid
Man's hubris takes another toss!
