Slip-sliding into Spring

There are subtle changes all around
In the woods the songs of birds resound
It's warmer as the sun gets stronger
And – happiness! – the days get longer.

I leave my gloves and scarf at home
But wear my hat – I hate “windblown”
Long hidden neighbours venture out
To gossip and spring clean no doubt!

I leave the house in daylight now
The sky's deep blue and cloudless – wow!
Some days it rains but should I fret?
I can feel a new Spring in my step!
