R.I.P. Tina Turner (1939-2023)

 Sharecropper’s daughter, Anna Mae*

Leaves us all bereft today

Part Navajo and Cherokee

Her voice and songs blew us away!

She was a “Fool in Love” with Ike

But her duo did not last

Despite four children, things weren’t right;

Her star - as solo artist - bright!

With “River Deep and Mountain High”

She rose, gold-plated in the charts

Her public she’d electrify:

“Proud Mary” of performing arts!

“What’s love got to do…”? She’d sing

Echoing an Angst so real

Her deepest feelings she would wing

She seemed so bold, on even keel…

Tina Turner was “The Voice”

Her stage performances - insane!

Going solo a wise choice

Affording her worldwide acclaim.

 Swiss citizen as age creeps up

At eighty-three her final bow

The shock makes many fans “tear-up”;

What can I say? She was a Wow!
