The warmth's a blessing - May brings joy
But parking fines will now annoy
More buses swell rush-hour commute
Tattoo parlours follow suit.
Long, wayward tresses can be trimmed
Toe and fingernails be limned
But culture still takes a back seat
Its role in current life effete.
Two months – a long time kept apart
Though Skype and Zoom chat cheer our heart
Nothing beats the real McCoy
At best they are a media ploy...
For those who plan, there's take-away
As restos do their best to stay
In our minds and on our plates
At, for the moment, honest rates.
With a «new normal» we are faced
Self-distancing in city space
While Nature, left alone, succeeds:
Behold our Grand-Place - flecked with weeds!
