Staying Cautious

How lives have changed these past few weeks;
There is no news - the Virus speaks!
Wings of fear cloud all our joys
Our minds adrift with worry noise!

While some prepare to step outside
Many, scared, at home abide
Afraid to board a bus or tram
Or get locked in a traffic jam!

As social distancing is key
Who wants to chance a shopping spree?
We realise we can «do without»
Why buy flash clothes if we're not out?

Airlines lay off staff in droves
All bars and restaurants stay closed
Methinks our future won't be smooth
Soon drones will watch our every move!

While burglaries and wars decrease
Violent household scenes increase
A quantum shift – good things and bad
We mourn the carefree lives we had ...
