Sun-drenched, we sat upon a bench
While passers-by
- with dogs - spoke French
Around us, buds
on trees unfurled
Harbingers of a
greener world!
Unbuttoned
jacket – it was warm
Across the lake
big ripples form
As ducks with ducklings
glide serene:
Kraainem - bathed
in springtime green.
Charlie, at our
feet, leash-free
Soon keenly dashes
off to see
More canine lovelies
as they pass
While scattered daisies
peep through grass.
Life’s quirky
exploits make us smile
So, we put the
world to rights awhile;
Small pleasures
on a late-March day
Which briefly banish
thoughts of grey!
