At Boitsfort Sunday Market

Velvet roses block our way
Their petals form a rich display
Wisteria decks the brick facades
Weeds of all kinds fill back yards.

Nature, on the move, at last
Gives of her best – bright flowers cast
Amazing shadows on the walls
Bouquets on sale at market stalls!

Boitsfort on Sunday comes alive
Some old traditions still survive
Glossy vegetables entice
Crunchy, fresh-baked bread, looks nice

Fish, meat or cheese in rich profusion
Could this be Provence? An illusion!
Why not a summer skirt or hat?
A pervading smell of chicken fat!

A lazy Sunday in the sun:
Long queues and idle chat – it's fun
With goat's cheese, salmon, apple tart
And assorted olives – we depart!
